Dove ornaments

I finished making a few doves for my sister.

Fabrics

Sunday afternoon at the fabric store is a so much fun for me. I always want a little bit of this fabric and that fabric. I never have any plans for what I purchase, but they are always used for something. I purchased only one five pack of "fat quarters" of quilting fabric this time when I wanted much more. One of the things that keep my spending in check is the long line of people waiting at the cutting table. It can take forever on a weekend afternoon to get thru those lines.

More Holiday Crafts.

In various stages, here are some of my little doves. Cut from white or sparkley white felt, I take two sides, sew the pieces together except for a small opening between the wings on top, lightly stuff with polyfill, put a loop of ribbon in the opening and sew it closed. Then take embroidery thread and stitch a design on the body of the dove. Done! a nice ornament to send to special friends.

Another Teddy

Here's a little teddy that's just the right size for hanging as an ornament. This one I made a while back from two different colors of mohair and is "wobble jointed".

The next one I make will be made from scraps of a mink stole left over from another project. If it turns out cute there is enough left over for a second one. Maybe I'll do one wobble jointed and one jointed the normal way. Either way it will be fun.

Crafts for the holidays!

Time to switch sewing gears for the holidays. I want to play with some felt - make some little things that I've seen on the internet and in craft books for my fellow coworkers. Just fun stuff.

How about some pencil toppers for your friends? I'm using a dark green wool felt, buttons, tiny jingle bells, pearls, beads, ribbons and whatever I think is cute for my pencil toppers. May even make some of these into pins for friends.
